iratus | First Culling - [Action / Voice]

[It's been two days since the wraith first arrived in Luceti. His confusion at his new surroundings (and wings) had left him bewildered. But he had avoided the human dwelling, scouting the area, learning about his situation. Under the cover of darkness, he had retrieved his belongings- a long black coat and his stun weapon. A thorough read through the journal appraised him of the situation. This morning, he took his first victim in secret. The body was promptly taken care of and hidden where it wouldn't be found. He would need to be less careless if he was to survive here for long. Once the population determined what he was doing, they'd turn on him in a moment.

There had been unexpected consequences to his feeding and he found himself in an almost euphoric mood. He had never experienced anything like this before. He was enjoying himself, in fact. The logical side of him recognized it as being problematic. Unsettling. Wrong. Yet he couldn't find himself too concerned with it. He would need to familiarize himself with the village. Today was as good as any other. So, strolling through the village is a tall, pale humanoid dressed in a black longcoat. ~~No, Sephiroth and his clones aren't back.~~ He will be in the general store and smithy inspecting the items, as well as the library perusing the various books for information. He seems to be in good spirits as he strolls around the village, but at all times he seems to be incredibly at ease. In control of the situation.

Later, he chooses to introduce himself. Better to present himself as friendly then to skulk in the shadows. He speaks in an unusual, alien voice. Despite its oddness, he sounds amicable and peaceful.]

I believe it is customary for 'New Feathers' to make themselves known to the village. Not an unusual custom, but I suppose most first introductions are associated with some measure of panic and worry. However, I believe I have already made myself adequately comfortable with the conditions here in this village. I will ask a question instead. Who among you are familiar with the Stargate? I understand on the planet Earth it is a highly guarded secret, so I will not be surprised if none of you are aware of it. Perhaps there might even be others such as myself, space faring people. Not that such knowledge is of use on this forsaken planet, but there might be information we could share.

[In the evening, he will return to the forest. He is not entirely comfortable staying in the village at the mercy of so many humans. Not when he can keep to himself. He'll just have to try and find some acceptable living arrangements. Perhaps one of the New Feather stations, for yet another night.]

In my own galaxy, they were among the most advanced race present, having themselves come from another galaxy altogether. Their stargates were a convenient means of instantaneous travel between worlds. However, they have since gone into decline. War did not suit them.

Technically to travel instantly, and war claimed them?

[HOW DOES THAT EVEN MAKE SENSE. he's actually a bit surprised]

They did little to conceal their advantage. The ability to commandeer stargates was not a difficult task. Even even some populations of humans have managed it. In any case, stargates are too small for a large invasion force.

[humans. For a moment he pauses because no, that's cant be right. Crichton - well maybe he wouldn't have known but he would've had to though]

Indeed. A mere six meters in diameter. Large enough for a single dart fighter to fly through, but for a full invasion force, it requires a force far more... substantial.

...What purpose would they have in creating such small gates? Those would be scarcely large enough to move any commerce vessel through them.

The power requirements to create a stable wormhole that large would exceed what even the Lanteans were capable of.

[Mmm. A sound of confirmation] And theses. Stargates. Are they capable of being moved without damage to their ability to connect space?

Indeed, though they must be recalibrated for their new position in space. They were not originally designed to be so mobile.

And do they already connect to the same place, or can that too be ... recalibrated?

Once properly calibrated, they can reconnect to any other stargate within the network. [These are a lot of questions, this guy seems pretty interested in them.]

Meaning that their link is directly between the gates... with different frequencies to determine the connection? They must then be artificial, not using the existing network...

Fascinating.

[It's not quite like that, but an absence of a stargate does not necessitate a more detailed explanation.]

From what I have learned, they are present in multiples galaxies. But the information is of little use if this planet does not already have one.

No... no, I suppose it does not help. [Much. It would help his wormhole research immensely. Assuming, of course, the Shifts here don't do more] After all. The forces which pulled people to his planet are arguably more potent.

Indeed. The stars are unfamiliar to any planet I have been on. We are either in another galaxy altogether or the enclosure is blocking subspace communications. A Wraith Hive should have already picked up my beacon already and arrived otherwise.

Your beacon is that strong as to work if you were, perhaps, a galaxy away?

It is not nearly so strong. It would require extensive work to amplify the signal. However, the effort would be pointless. Hive ships are not capable of crossing the void between galaxies.

[Earth ships can, though. And they know his signal too. So it is a task he is keen on setting his mind to.]

I would be very surprised if they were. ...After all, no ships known to my galaxy can venture into Gray Space.

What would this 'Gray Space' be?

Ah- Our term for the void which exists outside the galaxy's edge.

Our hive ships do not possess the power necessary for so long a journey. [Which was resolved by one of his lieutenants, but that Hive is no more.] There are, however, other races who have managed it. The humans from Earth have, though they did not create the technology themselves.
